Eligibility

Early-Career scientists — all Metabolomics Society members who are graduate students (Masters or PhD) or within 5 years post-PhD while in a training position (e.g., post-doc). Exceptions to the 5-year limit can be made where time off was taken for personal reasons (e.g., family, career break). Awards are split between (i) graduate students and (ii) post-doctoral researchers. Applications from low- and middle-income countries are strongly encouraged.

Application Requirements

Two steps, both required: complete the EMN travel award Application Form with the required documentation, AND submit a conference abstract. Selected abstracts and conference reports may be published in MetaboNews and/or on the Metabolomics Society website. Awards are valid through 12 months from the date of announcement.

Research match: Primary society meeting for Wishart's field; he has been an International Metabolomics Society member since 2006. Conference themes are Technological Advances; Computational Metabolomics, Statistics and Bioinformatics; Metabolomics in Health and Disease; and Metabolomics of Food, Plants, Environment and Microbes — a direct map onto NMR/MS metabolomics, the HMDB/NP-MRD/MiMeDB/PathBank/MetaboAnalyst database and tool portfolio, cancer biomarkers, precision medicine, and environmental/nutritional metabolomics. Wishart also sits on the EBI-MetaboLights board, which is embedded in this community.
