  • Partial travel support (amount TBD — typically $500–$1,000)
Eligibility

Students, graduate students, post-doctoral associates and junior faculty with less than four years in their first academic appointment; also those who have completed undergraduate and/or graduate school and are within the first five years of their professional career.

Deadline

Tied to the abstract submission cycle for SLAS2027 — the submission period opens and closes per conference

Alternative reports:

  • September 14, 2026 for podium abstracts; September 21, 2026 for poster abstracts
  • Typically November 2026
Application Requirements

Applicant must be the primary author of a submitted abstract and must present in a poster or podium session; award application reviewed by the SLAS Travel Award selection panel. A letter of support from the PI is part of the process.

Notes

May only be awarded to the same individual twice over a career — once for a poster and once for a podium presentation, provided the work is significantly different. No more than three applications from the same lab per conference, all on distinct research topics; one PI should not write letters of support for more than three students. Reviewers may prioritize so only one person per research group receives an award. Non-transferable.
